The Earthwave Global Surf Challenge is an initiative created by the Cape Town based Kahuna Surfing Academy that showcases the global nature of the surfing community, highlights their environmental concerns and issues a "call to action" on how we can reduce our impact on climate change.
By staging attempts on the Guinness World Record for the ‘most surfers riding one wave simultaneously’ on beaches worldwide on the first Sunday in September annually, Earthwave provides a platform for surfers of every age and ability to participate in an enjoyable group activity.
Leveraging the newsworthiness of world record attempts, Earthwave seeks to raise awareness of the threat of Global Warming and its effects on our oceans and waves while mobilizing the trendsetting surfing fraternity through practical advice on how to become part of the solution to the most devastating problem ever faced by mankind.

Global Warming is the greatest threat facing mankind today. We owe it to ourselves and future generations to learn more about this problem and then become proactive in reducing our impact on the environment.

Use the right energy for the right purposes e.g. use heaters for space heating rather than hotplates, use electrical kettle for water heating rather than an ordinary pot on the stove. You will save around 50 percent less electricity.

| | Earthwave England set for 6pm at Polzeath Beach |
To round off the end of summer Ticket to Ride in association with Surf's Up Boardriders will be attempting to break the World Record for the most amount of surfers riding the same wave at the same time.
The surf looks set to provide a nice rideable wave, all proceeds from registration fees are going to Surfers Against Sewage to aid their research into how global warming affects our oceans and ultimately the waves we ride.
So with everything set, all we now need is YOU to come down register on the beach this Sunday, grab a surfboard, paddle out and claim your very own piece of surfing history.
Pre-registration via the TTride website is advised in order to guarantee your spot. Registration on the beach will be on a first come first served basis. We will be on the beach from 9.00am and are hoping to have over 300 surfers taking to the water, all working together to catch the same wave. The event will include lots of giveaway prizes courtesy of Ticket to Ride's sponsors O'Neill and Dakine.
You'll want to see it to believe it and even better be part of it to claim it.
